Marni menswear Fall/Winter 2016-2017. Milan Fashion Week

Marni unveiled menswear fall/winter 2016-2017 collection.

The reinvention of Gucci. Alessandro Michele- the men of the year

The collections which Alessandro Michele has unveiled from the beginning of his tenure  can “love or hate” –  so many people are dreaming to have some pieces from Michele’s collections but same time a lot of persons find it simply ridiculous. Every piece is a statement. From  the first collection Michele’s Gucci stands for surrealism, androgyny and luxury.
The Gucci’s revenues are growing up and one unknown designer has been changing the fashion trends all over the world. This unknown designer is Alessandro Michele, who was named International Fashion Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
Michele made a colourfull waves on the red carpets. Only some names, such Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Dakota Johnson were wearing Gucci in the annual LACMA Gala in Los Angeles last year.
But let us go back in time, exactly – In 2004 Tom Ford and his  business partner Domenico De Sole  brought the Gucci back to the Fashion scene,  they brought the Italian leather goods business back from the brink of bankruptcy and transforming it into the most desirable fashion brand in the world. (Do you know that in 2015, Tom Ford was named one of GQ’s  50 best dressed men.  He also received a CFDA  Fashion Award for Menswear designer of the year.)
During Frida Giannini tenure Gucci became known for its strong product focus but the fashion is a business and the revenues must grown up, so after years of profitable growth , Gucci started to loose and it was time to make a changes.
In December 2014, Marco Bizzarri was settling into a role as head of the Luxury Couture & Leather Goods division of Kering . And  Mr. Bizzarri made a right choice, he choosed  Alessandro Michele who replaced Frida Giannini . Alessandro Michele who had worked behind the scenes at Gucci for 12 years, got the chance of his life. He had only few weeks -or maybe one week?- to create his first men fall 2015  collection , for womens ready-to-wear fall 2015 he had one week. It was success. From  the first collection Michele’s Gucci stands for surrealism and androgyny but the newness each season is essential. In the spring/summer  2016 collection there are more sheer fabrics, more heels, more dresses. It seems that aesthetic of Michele’s Gucci started to move away from androgyny to  more feminility.
Michele’s success is not  measured in monthes , not at all. Gucci customers and Michele fan’s are loving the summer 2016 and pre-fall 2016 collections because fashion lovesnothing more that individuality and originality and Alessandro Michele has both of it and we can see this qualities in his creations.
Michele’s collections can see everywhere,  from red carpets to Instagram fashion community.
Only some names, such Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Dakota Johnson were wearing Gucci in the annual LACMA Gala in Los Angeles last year.
And the Instagram  community , social medias and bloggers are sharing shimmer  vintage runway looks  and Pictures of the backless, high-heeled loafers . Social Networks users made their choice ( as example : Gucci actually has 6,9 millions followers on Instagram , Olivier Rousteing has only 2,1 millions, Balmain 3,5 millions )
In this time – don’t forget that the fashion weeks carousel is began yet-not only the Gucci customers but the whole fashion world is attended the Gucci womenswear collection for fall-winter 2016. In one month  Alessandro Michele will unveiled us his collection and will tell us what and where he get his inspirations during the creating process.

Fashion flashback : Gucci Fall/Winter 2015-2016 designed by Alessandro Michele

It’s a winter time and i’m choosing to focus on the fall-winter collections and make a kind of fashion flashback. The first collection to re-see is  a Gucci Fall/Winter 2015-2016. I choosed Gucci  because i like what Alessandro Michele did and does for Gucci, with fall/winter 2015-2016 Alessandro Michele made his womenswear debut for Gucci. The speed and scale of Gucci’s resurrection is astonishing. Michele  was appointed creative director just ten months ago and had only a few weeks to design his first men and women’s catwalk shows. And the most important News to tell – Alessandro Michele becomes next International Designer of the Year!
The British Fashion Awards plans to honor Alessandro Michele with the International Designer of the Year distinction for the work he has done as Gucci’s latest creative director.  In a short time frame, he essentially turned the fashion house around.Michele will receive his award on Nov. 23.   “I’m honored and still a little incredulous,” told the designer, regarding his win.
The British Fashion Awards is the biggest night in the British fashion calendar. It honours the UK’s brightest fashion and design talents – from established to emerging designers, to models and image makers. The most anticipated awards of the night are Womenswear Designer of the Year , the British Style Award (which goes to the nation’s most stylish celeb, voted for by the public) and Model of the Year.
Michele made the unexpected step up from accessories designer to creative director at Gucci in January 2015,replacing Frida Giannini who had been at the head of the firm for eight years. Michele’s experience with accessories led the fashion press to believe Gucci owners Kering fancied selling more handbags. However, it has been Michele’s vintage-inspired ruffled dresses, floral blouses and A-line skirts that have impressed critics and customers alike with a flurry of high-street imitators already tapping into the designer’s standout aesthetic.
Male models on the women’s catwalk, a debut menswear collection designed in the five days after his appointment and a significant departure from Giannini’s glamour and hard edges have all caught the eye at Gucci, with Michele clearly the man with the Midas touch.

Breaking News : ALBER ELBAZ LEFT LANVIN!

What’s going on,  will you ask?
The first question is : What’s going on in the fashion industry? First, on 7 October 2015,Kering announced that Demna Gvasalia will lead the creative direction team for iconic fashion house Balenciaga, as second, on October 22, Raf Simons left Dior House which is the jewel in the crown of french& world fashion and on October 28, the Breaking News again, Alber Elbaz left Lanvin.
One example :the brand such Chanel send a consistent message about what they are and what they stand for. If you are going to invest, you invest in that. Also if you don’t like one collection or maybe complete season. During Elbaz tenure Lanvin look became so recognizable that in 2010 Lanvin  launched a collaboration with H&M. Iconic house as Lanvin is, collaborated with H&M! Lanvin was founded in  1889,by Jeanne Lanvin. In 1909, Lanvin joined the Syndicat de la Couture, which marked her formal status as a couturiére. But today is October 28,2015 and the discussions  and speculiations are going Forward. The questions such “ Who -or will Alber Elbaz replace Simons at the helm of Dior? Who will replace Alber Elbaz in Lanvin?“  are still open.
As always, when a departure is announced, speculation is rife as to who could replace him. Riccardo Tisci  is rumoured to be a candidate, but here comes the question, will Riccardo Tisci leave  Givenchy in 2015-2016? He refused one time, so why must he change his opinion now, when he want to start with Givenchy Haute Couture?Young LVMH Talent Jonathan Andreson , currently at Loewe, is also being mooted. It is possible, however – as they did with Simons – that the company could look to an outside hire, which is where the names being connected with the job become even more diverse and interesting. Gucci’sAlessandro Michele,   EX Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz , New York’s  duo Proenza Schouler and also Olivier Theyskens  are also being connected with the now-vacant role.
Back to Breaking News, to Alber Elbaz :
Elbaz’s exit from Lanvin places him in prime position for the post of artistic director of Dior, left open by the departure of Raf Simons  last week.
The designer – known for his charisma, flair and couture-like approach to ready-to-wear – had a successful if disrupted career prior to Lanvin. Following an early placement at Guy Laroche, he went on to work at Yves Saint Laurent, and was expected to become its creative director when Saint Laurent retired
Elbaz worked for the Paris fashion house Lanvin from 2001 until October 2015. In 2014, Lanvin had estimated revenues of 250 million euros.
Here is a  complete statement, signed by Elbaz :
At this time of my departure from Lanvin on the decision of the company’s majority shareholder, I wish to express my gratitude and warm thoughts to all those who have worked with me passionately on the revival of Lanvin over the last 14 years; express my affection to all my wonderful colleagues in the Lanvin ateliers who accompanied me, and who enriched and supported my work. Together we have met the creative challenge presented by Lanvin and have restored its radiance and have returned it to its rightful position among France’s absolute luxury fashion houses.
I also wish to express my profound and deepest gratitude to all of the clients and friends, to the French and international press and to all those business partners who collaborated with Lanvin, providing us with support since 2001.
I wish the house of Lanvin the future it deserves among the best French luxury brands, and hope that it finds the business vision it needs to engage in the right way forward.
